With a passion for fashion and an eye for detail, the Motor City native moved to the Big Apple in 2004 to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology where she obtained a degree in Fashion Design in 2005. Banks interned with womenswear designers Joanna Mastroianni, Olga Kapustina and the infamous Sean John. She also traveled with the historical Ebony Fashion Fair touring across the globe as a wardrobe stylist. Banks named her line Berkli, after her late mother Berkley Banks, a fashionista and true business woman. Banks’ philosophy is feminine chic with a vintage flair. She’s inspired by textured fabrics, nature, bold colors, history and culture. Her collection embodies elegance and simplicity with a twist of a metropolitan glamour.
